The Richmond Heart Ball mission funds life-saving research for cardiovascular diseases and stroke, in addition to the development and growth of community and professional educational programs. Through the incredible support of our corporate and individual partners, over the past 2 decades, the Richmond Heart Ball mission has raised $9.9 million to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Every day, an average of 52 Virginians die of heartdisease or stroke. Locally, the American Heart Association funds research programs at Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Tech. With the support of our partners, the American Heart Association is able to fund a one-year pre-doctoral fellowship to assist a medical student beginning a career in heart or stroke research.
